Tips on Mobile Maintenance   

Looking after your mobile helps to ensure it has a long and productive life.  There are 8 easy maintenance tips to help you get the best out of your mobile phone. All of the points below should also apply to your battery, charger and any other accessories.

KEEP YOUR MOBILE:

1. Charged: Ensure your battery is fully charged, and then completely run it down before recharging. Recharging too early causes your battery to run out of power more quickly.  
2. Secure: For security reasons, enable the PIN on your SIM Card and Phone-lock on your phone to avoid unauthorized used. These security checks will also be activated when the phone is power cycled. You can check with your carrier or the phone manual for the features and also for information on blocking your SIM card and phone IMEI number if the phone is stolen. Procedure to connect Mobile phone as a Modem for internet access in Windows XP

Note :- First configure the settings in the phone  and GPRS should be working in phone before you go to configure a modem also in case of dual sim phones don’t  forget to place the sim in slot1 position from which you want to access .

Note :-  1).Connect the mobile to the PC using data cable.

 2). After connecting to PC the phone shows some options like

a).Mass storage

b).Webcam

c).COM port

 3). Select  the COM  port option and press OK.

Manual GPRS settings for all Indian Mobile Service providers

There are situations which demands manual GPRS settings to be done in the mobile phones as sometime settings are not delivered instantly to the user, also sometimes user mobile doesn’t support the automatic settings and now days mobile operator starts charging for the conversation, so I decided to provide all the details necessary to install manual settings in mobile as well as in PC/Laptop.

For Connecting your mobile to PC/Laptop you need : -

·        
      1.  Dial up Number like - *99***1# or *99#

·        2.  Extra-initialization command(sometimes needed)- AT+CGDCONT=1, “xyz”,…..

·         3. .Proper setting selection in mobile (like mobile office, pocket internet etc.)

·         4.  Access Point Name (APN) (sometimes needed in case you are using pc suite)

To know the procedure to use your phone as a modem refer to my previous post. I also observed that some times irrespective of right settings  in mobile we are unable to access the GPRS, in that kind of situation request your operator to send  the required settings. You can also use the SMS service  of operator for that as
